Building the
Future of Agriculture

Strengthening Pakistan-China cooperation through CPEC Phase II agricultural initiatives

Introduction

Agriculture remains the backbone of Pakistan's economy, contributing significantly to GDP, employment, and rural livelihoods. Under CPEC Phase II, agriculture has emerged as a top priority sector for bilateral cooperation.

During the 2nd Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference in Beijing, agriculture generated the highest investor engagement, resulting in 39 MOUs, 4 Joint Ventures, and an Authorization Certificate, representing a combined investment potential exceeding USD 1.345 billion. Pakistan has also secured more than a dozen new Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) Protocols with China, unlocking unprecedented access for products such as mangoes, citrus, cherries, dairy, rice, meat, fisheries, dry chili, and TCM-linked agricultural commodities. These developments position Pakistan as a rising partner for agri-trade, technology exchange, and value-added processing."
